What is Sofort?
Klarna’s Sofort (formerly SOFORT Banking) is an easy and direct payment method that is used internationally. Consumers from Germany, Belgium and other countries can pay easily with a transfer via their online banking system. The payment method is similar to an online transfer and although it might take a while before payment is actually received, the consumer’s bank can give direct confirmation that the transfer has been initiated. From 20 October 2023, this payment method is no longer be available via Buckaroo.
How does Sofort work?
Sofort is low threshold because customers do not have to create an account, make deposits to an interim account and are not required to have a credit card. The payment method meets high security standards for online banking and offers personal data protection that has been tested by TÜV. It should be noted that Sofort ‒ unlike payment methods such as iDEAL and regular bank transfers ‒ is not a guaranteed payment method.
